since 1990

rooted in rave culture.

Before the main stages and the million-watt rigs, there were warehouses, deserts, and word-of-mouth flyers. Founder Joseph Villa was there — a key member of San Diego's Global Underworld Network and World Evolution, the crews behind legendary early raves like OPIUM and the Narnia Festival of Life (1990–1997), pioneering outdoor events that drew tens of thousands and helped shape what festivals would become.

Electric State carries that history forward — preserving the stories of the scene's foundational era while covering the festivals defining it today. Same values, new tools: authenticity, community, and music first.

love + respect. always.

1990

the roots — from San Diego's underground rave scene to a worldwide platform.

60,000+

ravers strong — the themed events of the G.U.N. era set the standard for what came next.

35 yrs

and counting — three decades of event innovation, now in your pocket.
